Fashion facing its responsibilities. According to a study by IFM x Première Vision conducted in 2022, 65% of French people had purchased an eco-responsible fashion item in the past 12 months. And the main reason cited by those who did not is the lack of information.
The desire for change, ethics, and commitment is not new. We’ve discussed it extensively in this podcast, but most importantly, it is inevitable. There is a genuine underlying movement, particularly in the fashion sector, addressing these issues and the role of brands in this context.
This trend is supported and amplified by three factors working together and ensuring its longevity:
The legal factor, with evolving laws to regulate the sector and compel some actors to act,
Consumer demands, increasingly vigilant about these issues, as previously explained
And the goodwill of the brands themselves, with decision-makers and employees who, like any citizen, are becoming increasingly aware of these themes.
Is fashion truly compatible with this new mode of consumption? Will it inevitably face its responsibilities?
